I am always amazed by the absolute trust accorded elected officials by liberals. As long as the elected officials espouse a liberal ideology, it seems hardwired in the liberal's mind to believe that politicians are benevolent caretakers. This seems to be the case no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary. If a politician is liberal, fellow liberals will overlook any character flaw and any reprehensible action and will consider that politician a pillar of society and the protector of the poor.
Of course, it doesn't matter if the liberal politician is exceedingly wealthy. Such politicians are considered deserving of their wealth because of their apparent work for the poor. It doesn't matter if the history of that politician includes illegal dealings or even bribery. Nothing matters except the ideology. In the 2000 presidential election, liberals claimed George W. Bush stole the election because he won the Electoral College but lost the popular vote. During the 2008 primary, Hillary Rodham Clinton was trying to court the super delegates. Had she been able to win based upon the vote of a large number of super delegates, no one would have batted an eye at the disenfranchisement.
Similarly, politicians who are conservative are vilified despite any evidence that they deserve such treatment. Conservative politicians who have done well financially must have stolen their money. They got their money on the backs of the working poor. It doesn't matter if conservatives are philanthropists, war heroes or people of great honor and decency.

It is all so childish. When I was growing up in Buffalo, N.Y., and was about 7 years old there was a woman in the neighborhood who was kidnapping children. The people in the neighborhood labeled her the "bad lady." She would go to one of the playgrounds in the area, play with the children and offer them candy. When the opportunity presented itself, she would lead one of the children off. She was finally caught after the deaths of, I believe, three children. Children tend to follow people who offer them gifts. They don't look more deeply into the character of the individual. Therefore, we teach our children not to trust everyone, especially people bearing unsolicited gifts.
Yet liberals trust only those people bearing undeserved gifts. They follow politicians like children followed the bad lady, caring not about the liberal politicians' motives but only about the free goodies they may receive. They haven't grown intellectually to a point where they will question the motives behind the gifts.

Nowhere is this more evident than the congressional hearings with automobile company executives. Prime Minister Nancy Pelosi vilified the executives for flying to Washington in private jets. For the first time in history I found myself partially agreeing with her. After all, they were in Washington for bailouts, and it certainly seemed inappropriate to flaunt their elitism.

Yet, we must look more deeply at the situation. The government is in unprecedented debt. Obama is going to look to us to bail out the government and pay for all of the social programs he wishes to promote. Yet Nancy Pelosi left the meeting where she chastised the automobile executives and returned to California aboard the 200 seat jet reserved for her use. She is a great admirer of European culture and custom. Yet even the prime minister of Great Britain does not have so grand a transport. Liberals, ever content to follow the "bad lady," were not fazed by this glaring display of elitism by the speaker. Pelosi offers gifts in exchange for votes, and liberals happily follow.
The type of airplane used by the automobile executives can be found here. The air transport for the prime minister of Great Britain can be found here. The jet favored by Nancy Pelosi can be found here.
Socialism, statism and communism do not do away with elitism. They replace the elite capitalists who attained their positions by studying, working hard and producing jobs, with the elite politicians who desire more control to gain more perks and power. The elite officials of the former Soviet Union and Communist China are called to mind. They did away with the capitalists, taking over their companies and establishing themselves as the new elite. They still had private airplanes, chauffeur-driven limousines, imported champagne and mansions. These politicians "of the people" stopped trying to legislate against those who opposed them, but simply ordered them disposed of.
Liberals always believe "it can't happen here." They never seem to learn from history that it will happen anywhere once liberty is no longer the prime directive. They also never learned that the elite liberal politicians they so trust always turn on them in the end. Perhaps that is why one generation of liberals cannot learn from generations before. The generations of liberals before them have in many cases been exterminated by the very people they put into power.
This blind trust that liberal politicians are benevolent and have the best interests of the people at heart is belied by the middle of the night passage of the health-care legislation in the Senate. After promising unconstitutional concessions to Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska, and in spite of a greater than 60 percent public disapproval of the legislation, the senators passed this unconstitutional bill. The Senate has ushered us even closer toward becoming a "democratic dictatorship." The Constitution is no longer relevant. Instead of taking the time and effort needed to amend the Constitution, liberals simply ignore it.

The Constitution of the People's Republic of China states, in part: "The People's Republic of China is a democratic dictatorship." Yes, my childlike liberal friends, it can happen here. It is happening here, and all you must do to see it is open your eyes and your minds before it's too late.
