For many people, David Kupelian's best-seller "The Marketing of Evil" redefined the "culture war" by documenting how today's most destructive social agendas – from abortion-on-demand to the radical "gay rights" movement – were sold to Americans through brilliant marketing.
Now, in his just-released sequel, "How Evil Works," WND's managing editor trains his high-powered microscope on the most sensational and vexing problems confronting Americans in the troubling Age of Obama – the attempted socialist coup d'etat in Washington, D.C., resurgent Islamic fanaticism and terror, the rise of militant atheism and paganism, unrestrained sexual anarchy, the "narcissism epidemic" and much more. He explores with remarkable clarity not only what is causing all the chaos, confusion and corruption in modern America – but how to stop it.

Subtitled "Understanding and Overcoming the Destructive Forces That Are Transforming America," "How Evil Works" was introduced to the nation by Sean Hannity, who told his audience, "This is a powerful book ... I couldn't put it down."
In "How Evil Works," Kupelian once again demonstrates his uncanny knack for demystifying complex, elusive, and intimidating subjects with fresh insights into the hidden mechanisms of seduction, corruption and power politics. Diving into today's most electrifying news stories – from terrorism and school shootings to high-profile sex scandals and political dysfunction – Kupelian explores such profoundly troubling questions as:

- How does terrorism really work?
- Why are neo-pagan and New Age religions becoming so popular?
- Why do so many politicians and entertainment celebrities end up self-destructing?
- Why are big lies more believable than little ones?
- Why are boys doing worse in school today than girls?
- Why do we treat mental-emotional-spiritual problems like anger and depression with drugs?
"If there's a basic unit of evil – like a cell or a molecule, a basic building block – it's the lie," Kupelian told Hannity and his 15 million radio listeners during the Feb. 17 interview. "And Washington is built on lies and deception."

Hannity asked: "Do you think that everything [Obama] says is purposely manipulative?"
Kupelian: "It has to be. See Sean, these people – they look at the purpose of government [as being] to redistribute wealth. ... They look at us like we're farm animals and they're the farmer, and some animals have too much food and some animals don't have enough food ... and so they take from us and give it to others."
Why, Hannity asked, do so many politicians, like John Edwards, become so out of touch with reality that they engage in adulterous affairs while running for the presidency?
Kupelian: "There's something about being in power, whether in political power, or a 'god' of Hollywood, or a music star. It doesn't have to go to your head, but if you drink in all that praise, if you swallow it and accept yourself as some sort of god – whether you call it ego, pride, narcissism, or just being super-self-centered – it's really toxic for a person's soul. And even though they may appear to have everything that we want – wealth, popularity, adoration, influence and all that – there is terrible conflict."
Hannity: "I think the antidote to all of this is you kind of have to get on your knees everyday and thank God for the blessings in your life and realize that really whatever good you have is a gift. … I think fame – I don't think it's healthy for most people ... I see how it literally destroys people."

Kupelian agreed, quoting Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, the revered Soviet dissident who endured the gulags and exposed the evil of the Soviet Union to the West. Toward the end of his life, trying to explain the tremendous amount of evil unfolding in the world, Solzhenitsyn concluded: "Men have forgotten God. That is why all this has happened."
Hannity: "It's simple, yet profound."
Explaining his journalistic modus operandi in "How Evil Works," Kupelian said: "My secret wish is that if I can make the principles of how evil works really clear in these extreme examples – school shootings, terrorism, the big mega-crimes we read about in the news – the same things are happening in our own lives, in smaller ways, in more subtle ways. And if we can understand it where it's really clear in the big picture, then we can glean a little insight into our own lives."
"Well, I'll tell you," said Hannity. "I couldn't put it down. I got a hold of it the other day and I said, 'Oh this is a powerful book.'"

'Blowtorch' and 'scorch-light'
Hannity's assessment of "How Evil Works" mirrors that of others who have read it. Legendary radio talk-show host Barry Farber expressed it in his typical, colorful style: "With the unapologetic outrage of a saint and the fearless fury of a General Patton, here comes David Kupelian turning a blowtorch of good upon the putrid cobwebs of evil. Do you remember removing the back of a clock to look into the workings? In 'How Evil Works,' Kupelian lets us look directly into evil itself. There it is – every tick, every tock, every trick, every shock. Kupelian doesn't rest with 'Sunlight is the best disinfectant.' He prefers the scorch-light."
Here's how WND founder and editor Joseph Farah sizes it up: "Thoreau said, 'There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root.' In his tour de force 'How Evil Works,' WND Managing Editor David Kupelian strikes at evil's root with devastating effectiveness, building on the revelations in his classic best-seller 'The Marketing of Evil.' No library is complete without both the original and the dazzling sequel."
And No. 1 New York Times best-selling author Jerome R. Corsi, Ph.D., says: "'How Evil Works' is fresh, original, and startlingly insightful. David Kupelian reveals the hidden mechanisms that allow lies and deception to take root in modern America. A truly important book."
