Rep. Michele Bachmann is a target of the local and national media for one very good reason – because she's an extremely effective advocate of the uniquely American style of liberty, justice and morality.
I don't believe there is another elected official in America today who gets heat from my colleagues like Bachmann does. Sarah Palin does, of course, but she is no longer serving in office.
Part of the problem Bachmann faces is not just a hostile national press, but an extremely hostile local media.

Here's a great example from the Minneapolis Star Tribune:
"Michele Bachmann makes an appearance in a new documentary called 'Socialism: A Clear and Present Danger,' produced by an organization that has been previously criticized for linking the theory of evolution to the Holocaust," the report begins. Sounds ominous, doesn't it. Sounds like Michele Bachmann might be somehow diminishing the Holocaust – or, at least, linked to people doing that.

Nothing could be further from the truth. But let's continue with the fantasy narrative.
"The documentary and corresponding book, titled '10 Truths About Socialism,' argue that socialism and 'the envy-inflamed ideas of Marx and others are at war with the family, the church, and with God and His Word,'" it continues.

Now, I don't know about you, but I have studied socialism and Marxism for about 40 years. As a young man, I was actually a believer in them. And it is undeniably and provably true that Marxism has always been at war with the family, the church and God. It's a critical tenet that the state comes first. But you get the sense that Jeremy Herb, the contributor behind this report, thinks that's pretty far-fetched stuff.
The next indictment of Bachmann, besides denouncing socialism, is being the only elected official to appear in this documentary. Imagine that! The audacity of not insisting that other elected officials validate her views! Worse yet, others interviewed include me, several evangelical church leaders, Steve Forbes and Chinese basketball player Kai Chen.
The article continues: "Bachmann speaks in apocalyptic terms about the direction the country is heading. According to the film's website, she says: 'We're now spending money on a scale that no one has ever seen before. In history we've seen this happen just before the fall of Rome, where government raided its treasuries in order to grow a bigger bureaucracy. That's now happening in the United States. We have to reverse course immediately or it could mean the sinking of our civilization.'"
She may be the only elected official appearing in the documentary, but she is certainly not the only elected official making that observation.

So where's the controversy? Here it is:
"Florida-based Coral Ridge Ministries, an evangelical media organization founded by D. James Kennedy, produced the documentary," the article continues. "Coral Ridge Ministries has gotten into hot water for past works, including a 2006 documentary, 'Darwin’s Deadly Legacy,' which the Anti-Defamation League 'blasted' for attempting 'to link Charles Darwin's theory of evolution to Adolf Hitler and the atrocities of the Holocaust.'"
The contributor to this piece has already tacitly acknowledged not having actually viewed the documentary in which Bachmann participated. I have. It's great! I would recommend it to everyone.

He likely hasn't viewed the one he is attempting to use to indict Bachmann through the old guilt-by-association technique. It, too, is great. The Anti-Defamation League diminishes itself for blasting it. It is 100 percent true and well-documented. It is an established fact that the Nazi genocide was firmly based on Darwinism. If you have any doubts, just see the fascinating documentary for yourself. But, keep in mind, Bachmann had nothing to do with it! She is a part of a different documentary critiquing socialism.
Do you get the picture?
Can you imagine Bachmann's political adversaries ever having to deal with attacks like this?
It would never happen. They play by different rules. When you're a Michele Bachmann, you have to run not just against challengers from the other party, but against an entrenched media establishment, too.

Bachmann, who will be a speaker at WND's "Taking America Back" conference this fall, is the real deal – guts, convictions, the ability to articulate the vision, fearless, uncompromising. We need to support incumbents like her when we take the Congress back in November.
