You won’t believe what Bible actually says …

By WND Staff

In these troubled times, with jobs disappearing, a government taking over private corporations, new demands that citizens pay up for health insurance and vast new presidential “outreaches” to nations submitting to the violence of Islam, Americans want more and more to know what actually is right.

Enter the book “Shocked by the Bible: The Most Astonishing Facts You’ve Never Been Told” by Joe Kovacs, which is the top pick among best-sellers at WND’s Superstore this week.

The book, already in its seventh printing in less than two years, uncovers what you never thought was in the Scriptures and might even correct what you thought was there.

“When people actually crack open the pages of their own Bible and see the words on its pages, the ultimate destiny for believers is far more glorious than what most people have been told for centuries,” says Kovacs, a Bible-believing Christian, who just held a Bible seminar in Tulsa, Okla.

Many Christians already understand that part of their reward is eternal life, and yes, Scripture indeed confirms that numerous times. But the Bible goes far beyond just saying believers will be alive forever, according to the author.

“There’s a reason why Jesus calls His followers ‘the children of God.’ It’s almost mind-boggling.”

The specifics are revealed in “Shocked,” a timeless must-read for those looking for the absolute truth of the Bible. Not only does it clearly explain the ultimate destiny for mankind, the book is a giant news report that informs people on what is actually in the Bible, and what is not.

Among the sometimes-surprising words in the Word of God:

  • How many doves were aboard Noah’s Ark? The answer is not two.
  • On which day does the Bible say Jesus died? The Good Book doesn’t mention Friday, and it’s impossible to have happened then, since Jesus said the only sign of his divinity was that he’d spend “three days and three nights” in the grave which simply cannot be crammed into a Friday-night-to-Sunday-morning time frame.
  • Jesus said no one has gone to heaven except Himself
  • Noah’s Ark is not said to have rested on “Mount Ararat”
  • “Christmas” is not mentioned in the Bible
  • Jesus made appearances on Earth in the Old Testament
  • Jesus did not come to make everyone understand His message
  • Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were not Jews
  • And much more, including the worst case of hemorrhoids in history!

“Shocked by the Bible” is an educational juggernaut that relies solely on the Holy Bible to reveal hundreds of Scriptural facts that many people of all persuasions simply don’t know. The book instantly skyrocketed to the No. 1 position in three Bible-related categories on Amazon.com, and demand from Christians worldwide has led to its translation into Russian and Korean.

“I’m among the biggest fans of the Bible of all time,” says Kovacs. “My goal is to educate people about the solid truth of Scripture and to stop the spread of erroneous information. I want people to crack open their Bibles and see with their own eyes what’s actually printed on the pages, and what’s not. It’s shocking!”

In second place this week is “The Constitution of the United States,” a pamphlet that reminds Americans what the Founders designed when they created the nation more than two centuries ago.

It was columnist Jonah Goldberg in the Los Angeles Times who recently contrasted how conservatives and “progressives” approach changing the U.S. Constitution differently.

“Whenever conservatives propose a constitutional amendment, progressives suddenly rediscover the delicate gears of the Constitution and the horrible dangers of ‘tinkering’ or ‘tampering’ with its precision craftsmanship,” he wrote.

“But wait a second. Progressives love to tinker with the constitutional design. They simply do it by stealth, by appointing Supreme Court justices such as Elena Kagan, who, her testimony notwithstanding, everyone knows will treat the Constitution like Felix the Cat’s magic bag; when she searches the document hard enough you know she’ll find what she’s looking for.

“But when conservatives who talk about reverence for the Constitution also want to update it in a way that is actually consistent with the ‘genius of our constitutional design,’ they are hypocrites and radicals,” he wrote.

His commentary comes amid a congressional proposal to amend the 14th Amendment, granting citizenship to any baby born in the U.S. regardless of parental citizenship.

It’s just the latest is a series of issues that have developed under President Obama’s administration that have turned Americans’ attention toward their founding document, the Constitution.

Earlier surges in demand for the Constitution accompanied Congress’ vote for Obamacare, a nationalization of health-care decision-making that demands for the first time that Americans purchase a product specified by the government.

“The Constitution of the United States” hit another peak recently after one member of Congress told an audience that the federal government can do pretty much as it pleases.

It was California Democrat Rep. Pete Stark who was responding to questions about Obamacare and how it can be constitutional when it makes such extraordinary demands on voters.

In response, he said, “I think that there are very few constitutional limits that would prevent the federal government from rules that could affect your private life.”

He added a minute later, “The federal government, yes, can do most anything in this country.”

Audience members pointed out that the statements fly in the face of the Constitution, which pointedly limits the powers of the federal government, reserving to the states and the people all other rights.

The Constitution in demand among WND readers was printed by the National Center for Constitutional Studies. It has been proofed word for word against the original Constitution housed in the Archives in Washington, D.C.

It is identical in spelling, capitalization and punctuation. This 48-page pocket-size document also includes the Bill of Rights, Amendments 11-27, the Declaration of Independence and a complete index of the Constitution.

On the front cover of this pocket Constitution is a four-color picture of George Washington holding a quill in his hand, inviting each American to pledge commitment to the Constitution by maintaining and promoting its standard of liberty.

In third place is “Mysteries of the Dead Sea Scrolls,” a DVD from New Liberty Videos that combines fascinating video footage with up-to-date information into a compelling educational experience.

One hour in length, the documentary is divided into three sections and is perfect for Sunday school, home school or private study.

In Part One, Joel Lampe, a leading expert, shares behind-the-scene details on the 19,000 pieces that make up Dead Sea Scrolls collection. Discover the science, geography and history behind what many have called the greatest archaeological discovery of all time.

In Part Two, Dr. Frank Seekins provides fascinating insights into the ancient Hebrew language. You will learn how much of the Bible is composed of simple, powerful and fascinating word pictures that beautifully illustrate the truths found in Scripture.

In Part Three, Dr. Craig Lampe recounts the rampant superstition and ignorance that dominated the Dark Ages but then how a few brave men obeyed God and brought the Scriptures to the world.
