Yesterday's vote gives me great satisfaction, in part because I saw this coming.
I don't expect anyone to remember.
I don't expect all those folks who got angry with me in 2008 when I wrote "None of the Above" and predicted the spontaneous, grass-roots uprising that would result from the election of Barack Obama and the implementation of his radical policies.

I don't expect all those who greeted my predictions and advice with skepticism and insults to admit I was right.
Nevertheless, I take satisfaction today in the election results for two reasons:

- For the most part, Americans did the right thing yesterday and have taken the first step to taking their country back from the brink of disaster.
- The knowledge that if more Americans settled for John McCain in the 2008 election, none of this would have been possible. Once again, it's important to recognize there is a silver lining beneath the dark cloud of Obama. He and his policies have helped awaken Americans from their political slumber.
The most exhilarating part of this historic midterm election has been the way a new breed of Republican activist has been born.

Many of the candidates for Congress and other offices this year break the mold of what we have come to expect of politicians – fewer lawyers, more citizen-activists. These are people who were driven to run for office not because of ego, but because of a desire to save their country from ruin, despair and tyranny.
Today is a day of celebration.
But tomorrow the hard work begins anew.
The anti-American socialists who literally drove America to the brink are not going to just go quietly into the night. They will be back. They remain in power today. They remain a force to be reckoned with.
"Taking America Back" is still just a goal. It hasn't been accomplished. As I wrote long ago in my book of that title, this objective cannot be reached through the electoral system alone.

What does "taking America back" mean? From whom are we taking America back? What exactly do we want back?
What it means is that we want to return government to the people. We've learned the hard but invaluable lesson that we want to govern ourselves rather than be ruled from Washington. We want to be individually accountable for our actions and we want those we elect to be accountable to us. We want the rule of law respected – most of all by people charged with making laws and enforcing them. We want the precepts upon which this great nation was founded to be revered and respected.
Anyone who doesn't revere, respect and adhere to the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence is free to leave this country. It's as simple as that.

Those of us who love what America represents will need to be more vigilant than ever in the next few years to ensure we don't get fooled again. We need to be ready to get up out of our easy chairs and back out into the streets when judicial tyrants exceed their authority like oligarchs and impose their will on us. We need to remain motivated to hold elected representatives accountable for their actions – especially when they ignore the law of the land and the will of the people.
This is no time for the tea-party movement to rest on its laurels.
Victory should motivate us all for much greater accomplishments in the future.
Yes, what we witnessed yesterday was a great triumph in many ways. The wolf was at our door, and we repelled it.

But he'll be back.
We need to go beyond reversing the unconstitutional and unpopular policies of the last few years. We need a whole new orientation to self-government. We need to take responsibility back in our own hands so that our liberty can be preserved for generations to come.
