Barack Obama's State of the Union message was pretty much what I would expect.
Even he, the biggest spender in the history of the White House, agrees it's time to cut the budget. There's too much debt, he says. Something's got to be done about it.
His solution, though, as the nation's economy is about to implode, is to cut a few bucks here and there – maybe slow down the rate of increase in spending.

We've seen this tap dance in Washington too many times.
But what is the Republican response?
TRENDING: Rand Paul warns GOP senators: Voting to convict Trump would cause mass exodus from party
Meek, mild, tepid. Empowered with control of the House of Representatives by November's election, the GOP doesn't seem to recognize just how much clout it has right now.
Do you realize the House Republicans alone have an opportunity to reverse the tax-and-spend policies of the Democrats for the next two years – and there's nothing Obama and the Democrats can do about it?

Not only do they have an opportunity, I believe they have a moral obligation to use what I call the Republicans' "nuclear option."
In a few weeks, a bill will be introduced in the House of Representatives to raise the debt limit that will allow the federal government to spend more than it takes in for the next two years.
All the Republicans in the House have to do is vote "no."
Endgame.
The spending stops.

The Democrats themselves will be forced to make drastic cuts in the budget.
Sure, Obama will point a finger of blame at the Republicans as he lays off what Washington calls its "non-essential employees" and closes government buildings full of paper-pushers. (Let me ask a question of those of you who work in the "private sector": Do you have any "non-essential employees" in your company? The answer is "no." Private companies don't make a habit of hiring "non-essential employees," and the government has to be trained to stop hiring them, too.)
Shut down the government! Bring it on.
The American people will rally behind the House Republicans who take this bold action to stop the coming economic train wreck.

This is not a time for halfway measures and business as usual. There is a disaster awaiting us, right around the curve.
House Republicans have it within their power to turn this mess around – beginning right now, this year. And that's why the American people sent them to Washington in big numbers in November.
I don't know where the tea-party movement has gone, but it is needed more than ever.
We need to be inundating the House Republicans with letters encouraging them to take a stand against more debt.

Everyone agrees it's bad. So stop doing it.
Don't wait until next year or the year after. Stop doing it now!
If you agree with me, I have devised a way for you to make this point loudly and clearly to the people who count right now – House Republicans. They have all the power. They can stop it all by themselves because they have control of the House with 242 members. It only takes 218 no votes on raising the debt limit to prevent it.

You need to join with thousands of other Americans in the "NO MORE RED INK" campaign. For an investment of $29.99, you can send targeted, personally addressed and personally signed red letters, with guaranteed FedEx delivery, to all 242 Republican members of the House urging them to vote "no" on raising the debt limit.
There will be no more important vote in Congress this year.
If the House votes no, it spells the end of Obamacare. It spells the end of any more "stimulus" spend. It spells the end of bailouts. It spells the end of any new initiatives Obama and Harry Reid might be dreaming up.
Do you believe how simple this is?
