I hear some teachers in Wisconsin are upset because they are only making close to $100,000 a year with benefits and the summer off.
They want to understand why no teachers are paid like professional athletes earning millions.
I think I can help them out with this.

I, too, believe some teachers should be paid much more than they could possibly get working as public employees under corrupt union bosses who demand equity rather than merit pay.
Before I roll out my strategy to pay million-dollar teachers what they're really worth, let me first say a few words about my background that most people don't know. My Dad was a schoolteacher. More importantly, he was a union guy who led one of the first teacher strikes in the nation. He went to jail for 30 days for leading the strike, which, ironically almost delayed my graduation from high school.

So this is a subject that hits close to home for me. No one could say I hate teachers. No one could say I don't know what I'm talking about. No one could say I come from the ivory-tower world of private education. What you can conclude from this little history lesson is my Dad was a liberal, and I'm not.
So here is my plan to ensure the very best teachers in the nation become millionaires. I absolutely guarantee this will happen if the National Education Association is declared illegal, as it should be, and we start remaking our schools with an eye toward one thing – achieving excellence in education.

Here's my program:
- First, at every opportunity and as fast as we can, privatize education. Get this critical institution out of the hands of government at every level – local, state and federal. Private corporations or churches and synagogues should be the only institutions building and operating schools in America. That should be the goal. Again, if we do this, with modern technology, it won't be long before the very best teachers are making millions a year educating the young.
- Disband the NEA. Do you know this is the only 501c3 corporation in America that is permitted to serve as a lobbying organization, too? That is illegal for any other tax-exempt group. It is a profoundly radical group with a radical, anti-American and anti-God agenda. I'm sick of it destroying education in America and doing it with special rules no other group can play by. The NEA does not promote education. It promotes indoctrination. How much longer are Americans willing to see state-supported morally relativistic mediocrity in what we hear is the most important job in the country?
- Cut loose the Department of Education tomorrow. We're facing a $14.3 trillion national debt. Politicians are looking for places to cut. The budget of the Department of Education doesn't help educate even one child in America any more than the Department of Energy produces 1 kilowatt of power or one gallon of gasoline. All they do is regulate and strangulate.
- Even the states get education all wrong. We need to move to abolish the departments of education in every single state, with an eye toward privatization of schools in every community. There are companies and churches and synagogues ready, willing and able to step into the breach and do a much better job of teaching your kids than government, at any level, has proven able to do. Let the buyer beware, and the best schools will survive.
Now, once we start moving in this direction, you will quickly see millionaire teachers. No question about it. I predict you will also see fewer mediocre teachers. They won't survive. You will also see fewer predator-molester teachers, fewer communist teachers, fewer know-nothing teachers, fewer lazy teachers and fewer striking teachers.
