Weiner questions unasked under Carney’s protocol

Two questions about the future of U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., were left unaddressed at today’s White House news briefing when press secretary Jay Carney declined to recognize 43 of the reporters at the event, including Les Kinsolving, WND’s correspondent there.

Kinsolving, who is the second-most senior reporter on the White House beat, had wanted to ask about the latest on the case against Weiner, who admitted sending sexually suggestive photos of himself to a number of women he had met as a member of Congress.

The questions at the ready were:

  • As the head of the Democratic Party, does the president believe it would help or hurt the party if Congressman Weiner would resign?
  • Congressman Weiner’s request for absence [from Congress] is “for a period of two weeks on account of personal matters” with no mention of sickness, which is the only reason justifying continuing pay and allowances if absent. Does the president believe this federal statute should be enforced or not?

The situation appears to be getting worse for Weiner. In reports today, a former porn actress explained Weiner asked her to lie about their communications, which included emails and messages online.

Ginger Lee said she began discussions with Weiner about abortions and health care, and said Weiner tried to sexualize the conversation.

According to reports, she stated, “He asked me to lie about our communication. I knew I couldn’t lie for him but I didn’t want to be the one who kicked him under the bus.”

She told reporters Weiner should resign because he lied to the public and the press.

“If he lied about this, I can’t have much faith in him about anything else,” she said.

When the first photo emerged in the news, Weiner spent a week lying that he had not sent it. He later admitted doing that email and others to other women.

Some of the lewd images were photographed in the congressional gym.

Both President Obama and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi have called for him to quit.
