An event scheduled in Arizona tonight reflects a new consideration by some tea party members of evidence that Barack Obama is ineligibile to be president.
The tea party largely is credited with giving the GOP a majority in the U.S. House in 2010 and with turning a number of states away from the Democratic Party.

There are numerous ripple effects from the sea change, from the drawn-out battle to prevent more deficit spending in Washington, D.C., to Wisconsin's decision to crack down on its spending.
But the movement's leaders largely have ignored the eligibility issue. Until now.

Surprise Tea Party Patriots of Surprise, Ariz., in conjunction with the Liberty Through Action organization has scheduled a meeting tonight with Jerome Corsi, Ph.D., author of
Where's the Birth Certificate?"
The event at the Sun City West Foundation Building in Sun City West, Ariz., at 6:30 p.m. is to focus on the issues of Obama's dual citizenship at birth, the definition of "natural-born citizen," the mystery of his birth location, missing documents in the hunt for evidence, whether Obama's residency in Indonesia is a factor, the court challenges, the stonewalling of evidence in Hawaii, and ultimately, what the issue means for 2012.

"The speech represents a real movement of the tea party to engage in the eligibility issue. I plan to explain the evidence presented in 'Where's the Birth Certificate?' and to demonstrate with my computer the 20 or so experts WND has published saying the Obama birth certificate is fake," Corsi explained.
Corsi's book details the actual evidence regarding the eligibility dispute.
It apparently so alarmed Obama that just before the book's scheduled release, the White House flew an attorney to Hawaii to obtain a copy of a purported Hawaiian "Certificate of Live Birth" and release it to the public on April 27.
His aides had insisted that a short-form birth certificate posted online in 2008 was the only document available from the state until the long-form document was presented.

The effort to destroy Corsi's book just prior to its launch did not work, and it became a New York Times best-seller. Further, polls show tens of millions still believe Obama is lying about being a natural-born citizen as required of presidents by the Constitution. And reams of experts – including, most recently, some from the CIA – believe the White House's latest Obama birth certificate is a criminal fraud.
The book has been mercilessly attacked since the day it was published, with the White House condemning it by name and using it as the centerpiece of a fundraising campaign. Esquire magazine even published a fabricated and allegedly defamatory story claiming that the book had been withdrawn by the publisher, WND Books, and taken off store bookshelves nationwide. None of it was true.
Corsi's book explores whether Obama is an illegal president. In the course of the book, he "demonstrates conclusively that no legal authority has ever verified Obama's legal eligibility to be president, that glaring inconsistencies, blackouts, and outright fabrications in his life narrative have generated widespread doubts, and that, in fact, a compelling body of evidence says Obama is not a natural-born citizen as is required of all presidents by Article 2, Section 1, of the Constitution."
Among the many points explored in "Where's the Birth Certificate" are:

- Obama was born a dual citizen of the United Kingdom and the United States, a circumstance the Constitution’s framers considered an iron-clad roadblock to the presidency.
- As a boy, Obama was officially registered in school as a Muslim and Indonesian citizen, another barrier to U.S. natural-born citizenship.
- The press and blogosphere widely reported that Obama was born at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu – before deciding he was born across town at Kapi'olani Women’s and Children's Hospital.
- The Congressional Research Service, a public policy arm of Congress, officially admits no one in the government ever vetted Obama's constitutional eligibility.
- In preparation for the 2012 election, more than a dozen states considered legislation to force all presidential candidates to prove they are constitutionally qualified before they can be placed on that state's ballot.
The book is the result of three years of exhaustive research that included investigative trips to Kenya, Hawaii and points in between.
And contrary to reports out of Washington regarding the demise of the tea party influence, its victories continue.
Most recently, conservatives beat back an attempt in Wisconsin to unseat several key state Republican lawmakers who supported Gov. Scott Walker in his plans for a fiscally responsible and accountable government.

Sal Russo, chief political strategist of the Tea Party Express, said that the tea party encompasses what a majority of Americans support.
"There's the visible layer made up of Americans who get out with their signs and go to rallies in Washington. Then there are the fervent tea party supporters, who make up about 25 percent of Americans, although they don't get out to rallies or protests. Finally, there's the 30 percent who aren't sure what the tea party movement is, might be hesitant to say they belong, but connect with us on the issues. They vote the same way the tea party does. This layer is much broader-based," he has explained.
