Democrat operative mobilizes Occupy protesters

The co-director of a George Soros-funded think tank with close ties to the Democratic Party has joined the Occupy movement, using his group to call for protesters to "come out everywhere" to support the anti-Wall Street campaign.

Campaign for America's Future, or CAF, advertised an Occupy event held in Washington, D.C., yesterday with Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. The event sought to "warn Congress against any 'Super Committee' deal that cuts our retirement security and fails to create jobs for the 99 percent."

CAF co-founder and director Roger Hickey wrote on CAF's website, "They Can't Evict The 99%. Tomorrow, Come Out In NY, DC And Everywhere."

Hickey was referring to mass Occupy events held throughout the country yesterday.

Wrote Hickey: "Politicians beholden to the 1% are trying to evict the Occupy movement, from Wall Street and elsewhere around the country. … But you cannot evict an idea. You cannot evict a coast-to-coast grassroots movement. On Thursday, the 1% is going to find that out."

Hickey called Occupy an "unstoppable movement" writing "the nation will not see a beaten-down people. The nation will see a reenergized unstoppable movement, because there is too much at stake to remain silent."

"The politicians are resorting to thuggish tactics because we have them on the run," he added. "Don't stop now."

Hickey advertised yesterday's event with Sanders, who was a founder and chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

WND previously reported how the caucus was founded by the Democrat Socialists of America, with its website even initially hosted on the major socialist group's own site.

Soros group behind Occupy since onset

Hickey himself also co-founded the Soros-funded Economic Policy Institute, which was reportedly heavily involved in crafting the foundations for President Obama's health-care law.

CAF, meanwhile, has been funded by Soros' Open Society Institute as well as by the Soros-funded Tides Center, which channels funding to hundreds of progressive and far-left groups.

Tides has been connected to the Occupy movement since its beginning.

Another grantee of Tides is Adbusters magazine, which is reported to have come up with the Occupy Wall Street idea after Arab Spring protests toppled governments in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. The Adbusters website serves as a central hub for Occupy's planning.

MoveOn.org, which has joined Occupy, is funded by Tides. CAF's board of directors includes MoveOn.org President Eli Pariser.

Fenton Communications, an extremist-led outfit that crafts the public relations strategy of Tides grantees, has come under newfound scrutiny after WND published a series of exposés tying it to Occupy Wall Street. One of its senior employees represented the anti-Wall Street march past millionaires' homes in New York last month.

Earlier this week, WND reported how official resources for yesterday's Occupy "Action" day event include several manuals from the Tides-funded Ruckus Society, which trains radical activists in "direct action" techniques.

Ruckus is also listed as a "friend and partner" of Thursday's scheduled Occupy Days of Action.

Ruckus helped to spark the 1999 World Trade Organization protests in Seattle that turned violent.

The Ruckus manuals provided at the Occupy site are titled "Blockading for Beginners," "Anonymous Riot Guide," "50 Crucial Points for Nonviolent Struggle," "Define White Supremacy," "Imperialism the 2-Faced Monster," "Uncle Sam the Pusher Man" and the Communist Party-connected National Lawyers Guild's "Legal Observer Manual."

Democratic Party

CAF campaigns for universal health care, immigration reform and progressive education initiatives.

The CAF is deeply tied to progressive politicians from the Democratic Party, many of whom routinely are featured at CAF events.

Just last year, Nancy Pelosi was the featured speaker at CAF's "America's Future Now" conference in Washington, D.C.

In 2008, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., was honored at CAF's annual dinner for her "advocacy in Congress," noted Discover the Networks.

CAF was co-founded by Robert Borosage, who previously served as director of the Marxist-oriented Institute for Policy Studies.
