The BBC reports that the Associated Press has put out the word to reporters reminding them of its restrictions on using social media, after some staffers Tweeted their arrests in an Occupy Wall Street police sweep.
Among AP's guidelines, reporters are supposed to break news through the wire service, not social media. While they're expected to have social media accounts, they're not supposed to share their views in such forums on "contentious" public issues lest they "damage the AP's reputation as an unbiased source of news."
