The University of California at Davis put its campus police chief on administrative leave two days after she defended university police officers who pepper-sprayed nonviolent protesters on campus Friday.
In a statement Monday, the university said Chief Annette Spicuzza has been put on leave while the university investigates the incident, in which police were captured on video spraying pepper spray into the faces of seated demonstrators. The university announced Sunday that it had suspended two police officers involved in the incident.
