Masterpiece found in beach hut ‘worth $1 million’

A series of paintings expected to fetch more than £4.5 million at auction have been unveiled, including a masterpiece discovered in a beach hut.

Christie’s previewed the collection of paintings and drawings from the Pre-Raphaelites to the British Impressionists ahead of the auction on December 15.

Derby Day, by William Powell Frith, was recently discovered in an unlocked American beach house and is estimated to sell for between £300,000 and £500,000.
