Only two of Texas' other statewide elected officials appear to have just the right combination of age and state work experience to profit from a little-known provision that Texas Gov. Rick Perry, 61, already has used to simultaneously collect a state salary and a state pension.
But no other elected official so far admits to collecting a Texas two-step paycheck, according to responses to emails sent to all 27 statewide office holders by the Houston Chronicle. Employees Retirement System of Texas officials said they could not supply information on individual retirements for confidentiality reasons.
