Producer who tried to blackmail Letterman lands new TV job

Joe Halderman, the former CBS News producer who served time for trying to blackmail David Letterman, is back on the TV beat.

Halderman is working as a producer for ID's "On the Case with Paula Zahn," according to tvnewser.com.

The former "48 Hours" producer pleaded guilty last year to trying to squeeze Letterman for $2 million in 2009 -- threatening to expose the "Late Show" host's affair with staffer Stephanie Birkitt, Halderman's former girlfriend, unless Letterman coughed up the dough.
