(SUN-SENTINEL) — Even a frequent flier can be unnerved while going through an airport security checkpoint.
As experienced traveler Gloria de Regalado gathered up her coat, boots, carry-on bag, purse and laptop bag after being screened at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport last month, she forgot valuables that mattered even more.
Security video shows the 43-year-old mother of three left her $6,500 Rolex watch and a cherished bracelet with a crucifix in a gray plastic bin. A fellow traveler stole the jewelry on Jan. 18, the Broward Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

In 2011, such thefts happened about a dozen times at the airport's security checkpoints, which processed 23.4 million passengers, officials said.
