(HOUSTON CHRONICLE) — An atheist activist who dropped threats to protest an Athens, Texas, nativity scene after his health declined is now receiving aid from fellow atheists and the very group of Christians he opposed, according to reports on the Friendly Atheist blog.
San Antonio atheist Patrick Greene spoke against the controversial Christian scene set up in front of the Henderson County courthouse last Christmas.
He had threatened to file a lawsuit, believing the display to be state endorsement of Christianity, the blog said, but backed off once he discovered in February that an eye condition could soon leave him blind.
