(ASBURY PARK PRESS) — Gov. Chris Christie apologized Monday to a public-school teacher who said she nearly didn’t attend his latest town-hall meeting to ask him a question because he scares her.
The second-grade teacher — who left immediately after the 10-minute exchange and didn’t want to share her name with reporters — said she brought her two children and dog to the gymnasium in the Archdiocesan Youth Retreat Center in this Hudson County town because she wanted her 3-year-old daughter to respect government and see the governor.
She urged Christie to change the tone of his debate about education with the New Jersey Education Association.
“I’m a teacher on maternity leave, and I was scared to death to talk to you,” she said.
