(DAILYMAIL) — A drug addict thief jailed for eight weeks told magistrates his sentence was ‘pathetic’ – and he should have been locked up for much longer.
Alex Livingstone, 40, handed himself in to police after stealing food from a store and breaking into a car in Corby, Northamptonshire.
But when magistrates gave him just two months in prison after he admitted two charges of theft, he launched an angry courtroom tirade.
Livingstone’s solicitor told Kettering Magistrates’ Court that his client had broken the law to fund his £100-a-day drug addiction.
After his sentence was passed, the thief got up and told chairman of the magistrates Raymond Edis: ‘It’s pathetic. You should have given me a lot longer than that.
