(HOUSTON CHRONICLE) -- Texas’ newest specialty license plate features the Crosses at Calvary and the words “One State Under God.”
Made to benefit a Christian ministry in East Texas, plate will be available for Texas drivers to order starting Monday, March 19.
The Department of Motor Vehicles approved the Calvary Hill plate in December with a 4-3 vote, the Austin American-Statesmen reported. Opponents consider the state-produced Christian plate a government endorsement of religion, but fans say its a First Amendment-protected expression of religious speech.
