(NEW YORK POST) The Tim Tebow era began for Gang Green on Monday, as the most heralded second-string QB in recent football history played defense against any budding quarterback controversy.

Tebow, during a crowded press conference at the Jets field house, poured on his sugary charm as he peppered with non-stop questions about incumbent quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Tebow said he has met with several of his Jets teammates, and has exchanged texts with Sanchez.

“From my conversations about him he was excited to be working with me, and I am excited. I have a lot of respect for him as a person, football player,” Tebow said. “We talked about that. I am excited about that opportunity.”
