Call it street culture, but it could be outlawed after Britain signed up yesterday to a new European deal on sexual harassment.
David Cameron is backing a pledge to criminalise “verbal, non-verbal or physical” harassment, drawn up by the Council of Europe’s convention on violence against women.

By signing the convention the Prime Minister vowed to take “necessary legislative measures” against anyone breaking the clauses which include sexist comments and street harassment such as shouting or whistling at women in public.
