I’m sure Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, AKA Joe the Plumber, is a nice man – a sincere guy.

He’s running for Congress this year, and I wish him the best of luck because he is running against Marcy Kaptur in an Ohio district, and she deserves to be retired by voters.

But I have a problem with his perception of reality and, shall we say, his spiritual discernment – and these kinds of answers aren’t going to help him win that seat.

He told the Politico recently that Barack Obama is his Christian “brother,” and that the impostor in the White House is “blessed by God.”

What draws him to these conclusions?

“He became a Christian against all odds, and ultimately – I don’t know God’s will – but if you follow what God wants you to do, he will bless you. Barack Obama has been blessed by God, to become president,” Wurzelbacher said. “After Barack Hussein Obama suddenly cast-off his Muslim roots, rejected his mother’s disbelief in God, turned tail on the Islam of his early life and converted to Christianity – BLAM – he’s elected president,” he wrote in the letter to CBN. “Anyone who believes the two things are not connected is being disingenuous at best. I don’t know how or when it happened, whether when he was partying at college or five minutes before he first decided to run for office, but it doesn’t matter – he came to Christ and he is my brother.”

But what is the evidence of Obama’s Christian faith? His attendance for 20 years in Jeremiah Wright’s schizoid, America-hating, Liberation Theology cult? What does this have to do the Jesus? Nothing.

Is this naiveté on Joe the Plumber’s part, or is this politics?

Where is the evidence that Jesus is the Lord of Barack Obama’s life? Calling oneself a Christian does not mean one is a Christian.

I would like to bring to Wurzelbacher’s attention a key passage from the book of Matthew Chapter 7:15-23 that may have eluded his notice:

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

“Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

“Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

“A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

“Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

“And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

With regard to Obama, where is the good fruit? What kind of fruit has been produced? Has he done the will of the Father?

Wurzelbacher added that he’s proud of his faith and insisted the U.S. has always been a Judeo-Christian country.

“Our Founding Fathers, at one point in time, all pointed to God,” he said. “All 50 states, in all state constitutions, ask for God’s guidance. There’s no argument this is a Judeo-Christian country. For someone to say it’s not is absurd, because the facts are there.”

But who said just that? Barack Obama.

So we have a problem here.

Yet, Joe the Plumber insists he doesn’t question Obama’s faith.

“I don’t question his faith, and when I read or hear people claiming he’s not a Christian because of this or that, I don’t like it,” he wrote in his letter to CBN. “[But] Barack Obama once famously told me he just wanted to spread the wealth around and I take him at his word about that as well. After three years of watching the policies he’s put forth, the agenda he’s pushed and the detrimental effect it’s had on our country, I don’t question it one bit.”

How about this?

  • his support of same-sex marriage
  • his support of open homosexual activity in the military
  • his support of killing innocent babies in the womb
  • his support for withholding life support for survivors of abortion
  • his support for forcing those of Christian conscience to provide sterilization and abortion services to their employees through mandatory health-care programs

Barack Obama has been at war with God before he took office and ever since.

What am I missing here? And what is Joe the Plumber missing?
