I hate to say this, but it's almost become obvious that Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly are covering the Jeremiah Wright issue to pander to those of us wanting to know more about the president's birth certificate and early life. I don't know if the Democrats are duping the Republicans or if the Republican establishment is duping the tea party, but Jeremiah Wright is a complete red herring.
Karl Rove, who hates the birth certificate story, is already warning Republicans not to talk about Jeremiah Wright after Hannity devoted an entire week to the issue. Rove's warning only serves to make the birth certificate story seem even more fringe, because if the Wright story is out of bounds then the birth certificate story shouldn't even be considered. And now Obama is attacking Romney's record at Bain Capital, and the talking heads are calling for an end to personal attacks. And you know the left considers the birth certificate issue the ultimate personal attack on Obama.
This is political theater, but I'm not buying it.
