(HOUSTON CHRONICLE) — A Humble woman surrendered to authorities Thursday night after she was charged with murder in a traffic crash in April in Montgomery County that left her 8-month-old daughter dead, officials said.
Ashli Nicol Heil, 28, voluntarily turned herself in about 5 p.m. at the Montgomery County jail, said Warren Diepraam, Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney. Bond was set at $250,000.
Authorities say Heil was driving a white Suburban southbound on FM 1984 near Miller when she lost control of the SUV on April 2 at about 6 p.m. The vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, almost striking another vehicle before hitting a cedar tree, officials said at the time.

Diepraam said tests showed Heil’s blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash was .18, which is more than two times the legal limit.
