PALM BEACH, Fla. – Radio giant Rush Limbaugh now claims President Barack Obama hates the United States and is actively doing his best to destroy the American dream.
"I think it can be said now without equivocation that he hates this country. He literally does. I'm not using that as a throwaway term," Limbaugh said this afternoon.
"I think he literally hates this country and is trying to dismantle the American dream. His policies are doing a damn good job of it. He's turning more and more people out of work. He's ensuring that the whole notion of creating wealth is becoming more and more difficult because of things he is putting in people's way."
Limbaugh's comments came as he analyzed a speech given by Obama Friday night in Roanoke, Va., in which the president suggested it was not the hard work of citizens that built the nation, but the power of big government.
A transcript of Obama's remarks and the reaction of followers reveals:
OBAMA: "Look, if you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own."
FOLLOWERS: "That's right!"
OBAMA: "You didn't get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, 'Well, it must be because I was just so smart!'"
OBAMA: "There are a lot of smart people out there. 'It must be because I worked harder than everybody else.' Let me tell you something. There are a whole bunch of hardworkin' people out there!"
FOLLOWERS: (cheers and applause)
OBAMA: "If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help!"
OBAMA: "There was a great teacher somewhere in your life."
OBAMA: "Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges! If you've got a business, you – you didn't build that!"
OBAMA: "Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn't get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet."
Limbaugh then countered:
"You know who really invented the Internet? It was the military. It was a DOD project, and Obama hates that. But, folks, look. Here he is repeating it: Roads and bridges. The roads and bridges came after what was necessary, or what made the roads and bridges necessary. They came after that. I'll tell you what. I think it can now be said, without equivocation – without equivocation – that this man hates this country. He is trying – Barack Obama is trying – to dismantle, brick by brick, the American dream.
"There's no other way to put this. There's no other way to explain this.
"He was indoctrinated as a child. His father was a communist. His mother was a leftist. He was sent to prep and Ivy League schools where his contempt for the country was reinforced. He moved to Chicago. It was the home of the radical-left movement. He hooks up to Ayers and Dohrn and Rashid Khalidi. He learns the ruthlessness of Cook County politics. This is what we have as a president: A radical ideologue, a ruthless politician who despises the country and the way it was founded and the way in which it became great. He hates it."
