(WASHINGTON POST) TAMPA — Republicans have officially begun the first full day of their convention. On today’s agenda: First the roll call, then the red meat.Later Tuesday afternoon, Republican delegates are scheduled to take the vote that will formally settle their party’s long primary battle. They will nominate Mitt Romney for president, and Rep. Paul Ryan (Wis.) for vice president.
Later, one of the most pugnacious and beloved Republican officials, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, will give a keynote address. If Christie follows precedent — the party’s and his own — he will use that speech to hammer President Obama on accusations of mismanaging the country and the economy.
