(TELEGRAPH) — A married woman who aborted her own baby in the final week of pregnancy was jailed for eight years today after a judge said she had robbed the child of the life he was about to begin.
Sarah Catt, 35, already had two children with her husband when she became pregnant again in 2009, apparently as a result of a seven-year extramarital affair.
After learning she had passed the legal limit for an abortion of 24 weeks, she went on the internet and ordered a drug used to induce labour from a company in India, Leeds Crown Court heard.
