Hallmark blasted for sexualizing girls’ cards

(TELEGRAPH) — The greeting card giant Hallmark has been heavily criticised for sexualising young girls on a 13th birthday card.

Consumers threatened to boycott the company over the “shameful” card, a picture of which was posted on Twitter.

The offending text on it read: “You’re 13 today! If you had a rich boyfriend, he’d give you diamonds and rubies. Well, maybe next year you will – when you’ve bigger boobies!”

Tweeters said they could hardly believe the rhyme had been printed on a card for a child, branding it “shocking,” “horrid”, “sick” and “gross.”
