(KATC) — The Acadiana Home School Association Commandos football team recently wrapped up its 2012 campaign by defeating CHEF of Baton Rouge by the score of 30-14 to win the ACEL State Championship.
The Commandos, who finished with a record of 7-1, are the first home school squad to win the state title.
The team fought through a great deal of adversity on its way to the championship. A whole new coaching staff inherited a team that finished 3-4 and graduated 20 players in 2011. The Commandos also did not have a permanent practice home until it finally settled at Pope John Paul II Academy.
