(London Evening Standard) The extent of the German Blitz on London becomes chillingly clear in an extraordinary new interactive map.
The year-long project shows where every German bomb landed on the city during the eight months of the Blitz.
Devised by geographer Dr Kate Jones of the University of Portsmouth, it uses red bomb symbols to illustrate the bomb sites.
The map shows how the entire greater city, from Egham in the west to Dartford in the east, Potters Bar in the north and Caterham in the south, was obliterated.
