'Moderate' Islam unmosqued

Again and again, we see all of the fallacies and delusions of Western "leaders" and the media elite crumble in the face of reality.

It was revealed Monday that a "Canadian" was in charge of the jihadist operations at the Algerian gas plant. Of course, this jihadist was no more Canadian than Osama bin Laden was. As Robert Spencer says of him and another Canadian reportedly involved in the jihad massacre: "They most likely didn't consider themselves Canadians. They no doubt thought of themselves as members of the global, supranational umma."

But in Canada he was almost certainly assumed to be a "moderate." And so were the gas plant employees who were in on the jihad plot.

What does this tell us about "moderates"? How do we tell the players? How do we know which of our co-workers and neighbors aren't bloody jihadists in the making? Remember: Anwar Awlaki, the imam to the 9/11 Muslim terrorists (who assisted in the purchase of their airplane tickets), was the go-to imam the media consulted (the "moderate" imam) for all things Islam right after 9/11. And so did the 9/11 hijackers, for "spiritual guidance."

Awlaki dined at the Pentagon for lunch. He supped there as well. He was imam at the respected Dar al Hijreh mosque in northern Virginia. Yet the devout Muslim Awlaki also provided succor and Islamic spiritual guidance to the 9/11 jihadis, the Fort Hood jihadist and the Christmas underwear bomber.

"Jihad is becoming as American as apple pie and as British as afternoon tea," as he himself once said.

Today's moderate is tomorrow's mass murderer. What's the difference? Good PR and a lot of propaganda served as hot as apple pie by a jihad-aligned media. What they don't tell you is the fact that the most recent survey, conducted over a five-year period, showed over 80 percent of the mosques in America teach, advance and promote jihad.

This is an ideological war devoid of borders, countries, nationality. And the sooner the kaffirs and infidels and "people of the book" accept that harsh reality, the sooner we will begin to stem the Islamic supremacist tide. The global jihad transcends borders, nationalities, race, creed (pre-conversion) or color. It is the ideology of supremacism, violence and hate that compels the relentless war on non-Muslims and secular Muslims (apostates). Until we face reality (and truth is the recognition of reality), we are all in great peril.

Even some of those reputed to be "moderates" admit this. In what sounded like the ancient ramblings of a long-dead Ottomon sultan, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey, a country that up until recently had been considered the most "successful" marriage of Islam and democracy in the West, revealed in 2009 what those of us familiar with Islam, the Quran and its tenets have long known: There is no "moderate Islam."

Erdoğan explained: "The 'moderate Islam' concept is wrong. The word 'Islam' is a simple word – it is only Islam. If you say 'moderate Islam,' then an alternative is created, and that is 'immoderate Islam.' I cannot accept such a concept as a Muslim."

There is no "moderate" Shariah, either. We saw this again in December, when "moderate" Kuwait introduced the death penalty for cursing Allah, the Quran, the prophets and even Muhammad's wives. The money quote came from Kuwaiti MP Ali al-Deqbasi: "We do not want to execute people with opinions or thought because Islam respects these people. ... But we need this legislation because incidents of cursing God have increased." Ah, they don't want to kill us, but they have to because the Quran tells them so. This is savagery.

Once again, an illusion of a moderate Islam was unmosqued. And it is ugly. Why do civilized men tolerate this barbarity? Why do civilized men walk on eggshells for fear of insulting savages? Instead, the media quislings allow Islamic supremacists and stealth jihadists to smear, defame and libel those who challenge jihad and dare to speak the truth about the most radical and extreme ideology on the face of the earth. To what end? We'd be wise to buck up and fight this gruesome fight. We will have to.

Obama has repeatedly vowed to the Muslim world that the U.S. is not at war with Islam. Indeed. But Islam is at war with the West. Not all Muslims, but a critical mass. Not all Germans were Nazis; what difference did that make?

As Erdoğan said, there is no moderate Islam. There is no extreme Islam. Islam is Islam.
