(TELEGRAPH) — The co-owner of the Brazilian nightclub where a fire killed 231 people has been arrested along with two members of the band suspected of setting off the flare that started the blaze.
Ellisandro Spohr’s arrest came as fresh details emerged about the safety failings at the Kiss nightclub, along with stories of victims’ bodies piled up at the exit in scenes likened to the Holocaust.
Mr Spohr was a partner at Kiss in the university city of Santa Maria in southern Brazil.
The arrests were announced by prosecutor Joel Oliveira Dutra as Brazil observed the first of three national days of mourning for victims, many of whom were students at Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM).
