(WASHINGTON TIMES) With more than 12 million Americans still out of work, President Obama has decided to shut down his Jobs Council.

White House official confirmed Thursday that Mr. Obama won’t extend authorization for the council, which he created two years ago. Its authority runs out Thursday.

“Today, we are announcing that the White House will begin a new, expanded effort to work with the business community and other outside groups to advance specific policy priorities promoted the Jobs Council,” the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
