(LOS ANGELES DAILY NEWS) The Lancaster City Council can continue opening meetings with prayers, even if some are explicitly Christian, a federal appeals court ruled this week.
But the nearly three-year legal battle is not quite over, as a lawyer for two women opposing the practice said he plans to appeal to a broader panel of the appeals court judges - and to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.
The plaintiffs, one Jewish and one Christian, challenged the prayers in a 2010 lawsuit, calling them an unconstitutional establishment of religion.
