All that glitters

• In the event of a major depression, gold hoarders distort markets and interfere with recovery efforts -- government should know who these people are
• It's an overdue move to crack down on money laundering
• It will help law enforcement recover victims' stolen property
• The fees will help state government deal with revenue shortfalls
• If people aren't doing anything wrong, they have no need to worry
