Why Obama craves perpetual crisis

If you were listening to the breaking news reports on Friday in Southern California, you may have been on the lookout for a crazy white guy with an assault rifle. The media have to be disappointed now that the shooter has been identified as a man of Lebanese descent who was not a conservative-Republican-tea-party type who could be labeled a "right-wing extremist."

The shooting at Santa Monica State College took place over the course of 10 minutes. He killed his father and brother before heading to the campus. The college is, of course, a gun-free zone, so the shooter knew where he would face the least resistance. One person carrying a concealed handgun could have ended the violence much sooner had they not been in California, and on a college campus, where there are few concealed-carry permits issued. (That is, unless you're a celebrity or politician.)

Now that they can't blame the shooting on a "violent" right-winger, the statists have shifted their focus to mental health. A Los Angeles Times story reported, "The gunman accused of killing four people in a Santa Monica shooting rampage Friday was apparently angry over his parents' divorce and had some mental health issues in the past, a law enforcement source told The Times."

Mark my words, at some point in the future, a shooting will occur and the suspect will be connected to the tea party or another conservative group. It is only a matter of time. The Obama administration is "poking the bear." Scandal after scandal is being revealed in the media and some details are willingly being released by the Obama administration. Some are saying this is the beginning of the end for Obama. I disagree.

Michele Bachmann raised the question, "Why was the well-kept secret of the IRS targeting of conservative groups released willingly by the Obama administration, and so many months after they knew about it?" Information on a new scandal is released each day. I believe they are intentionally allowing conservatives to become more and more upset. I know of one patriot who committed suicide because she could not stand to see the destruction of our republic. I am certain there are others. I am certain there will be more. Rush Limbaugh said he believes that the left is advertently trying to get some on the right to "snap."

All it will take is one attack by someone connected to a conservative group and all eyes will be turned away from Obama's antics. The calls for investigation into government overreach will turn into calls for the government to take more power. The left will say they'd warned us all along about those dangerous right-wing extremists.

In my column last week, I warned of the dangers of allowing mental health professionals decide who is worthy of having freedom, including the right to own and possess a firearm. This is the new battleground of the statist left, and that is where we must focus our efforts.

Now that the new DSM-V has been released, it is now easier to diagnose someone as mentally ill. Great Second Amendment lobbies like Gun Owners of America and the NRA are focusing on legislative efforts to preserve gun freedoms, and have been relatively successful. After years of using the legislative process to attack the Second Amendment, the enemies of freedom have found a new way to encroach on those freedoms: allowing unelected, unaccountable mental health professionals to decide who is competent enough to own a gun.

This administration creates crisis after crisis, and dismantles liberty after liberty. Virtually every move of this administration is to create tyranny and erode liberty. Those who don't see it clearly choose not to see it.

Rush Limbaugh said that some take false comfort in knowing "Obama's fingerprints aren't on the latest scandal" (IRS, AP, Benghazi, EPA, DHS, NSA, etc.) He made a detailed argument, referencing a column in American Thinker by Herbert Meyer, that Obama's distance from these scandals does not make us safe, because (and he lays out his theory in great detail) "whether you believe it or not, there is not one document linking Adolf Hitler to the holocaust. Adolf Hitler never put it on paper what he intended to do. There is no smoking gun. And yet what happened? We know that the Nazis engaged in the Holocaust. Herb Meyer's point was that the people Hitler hired didn't have to be told. They didn't have to be given instructions. All they had to do was listen to what Hitler was saying. All they had to do was listen to what his objectives were. And he said the same thing's happening here with this administration. He went to great pains to say: I'm not calling this administration a bunch of Nazis. I'm just using this as an illustration. I know people will get my point if I use something this notorious, the Nazi regime. It's a point that I've made here about the IRS. They say, 'Well, you can't link it in to Obama.' You don't need to link Obama to it. He hired these people." You see the consistency when tyranny is put into place.

The statist left is crafty in forming its message. Do not be fooled into believing that we can shift the focus away from guns, and toward the mental health profession to protect our rights. The left wants you to believe they have eased away from gun confiscation. This is a trick that would make Saul Alinsky proud. By the latest standards, half of all Americans can be declared mentally ill. After they are able to determine that 99 percent of the population is not mentally competent enough to own a firearm, they don't need confiscation. Americans will have willingly walked right into their trap.

The statists will be laughing as they lead their political enemies to the rubber rooms in strait jackets, but as any Holocaust survivor will tell you, they'd better watch out, because they will be coming for them next.
