Gallup: August brings yearly blues for Obama

(WASHINGTONTIMES) — The dog days of summer are accompanied by cold attitudes toward President Obama, according to a new poll out Monday.

A Gallup survey found that Mr. Obama is most unpopular in August, with his approval ratings sinking to 45.6 percent on average this month. The figures routinely dip as summer goes on, bottom out every August, then begin to rebound each fall, the poll shows. Mr. Obama’s average approval rating in May, for example, is 51.8 percent; after hitting its lowest point each August, the figure starts to rise each September, with an average approval rating of 46.8 percent during that month, the poll shows.

So far in 2013, Mr. Obama’s approval rating has slowly but steadily declined throughout the summer. It began at 49 percent in May, dipped to 47 percent in June, hit 46 percent in July and finally crashed to 45.6 percent in August.
