The thirst for war by Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham is a excellent example of how the 17th Amendment to the Constitution is destroying our republic. I doubt that the state legislators of Arizona and South Carolina are as hawkish. I think that the best thing alternative media organizations (the only source for revealing the truth) can do for the American people is to expose the false ratification of the 17th Amendment and how it has impacted us in a very negative way.
A senator's vote on legislation, or actions on any other subject, such as whether to be hawkish or not, should reflect the will of his/her respective state. As an additional constraint to prevent a senator from going rogue, the state legislature or other body that truly represents their citizens should be allowed to concur or not concur before a senator's vote or action is considered final. That would put a stop to a great deal of this warmongering, as well as dramatically reduce the power of special interest groups.
There are two very important dates coming up. The pope has called on all Christians to pray and fast on Sept. 7 for peace in the Middle East, and Joseph Farah has called on all Christians in America to engage in prayer and repentance on Sept. 11. On behalf of all Americans, one of my thoughts will be for the end of the 17th Amendment while I honor these calls for prayer, fasting and repentance.
