The old saying, "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" should be a consideration when going to war.
Not since the Vietnam War has America been more polarized. On issues of social programs, budgeting and immigration, America is in the midst of tremendous debate, not to mention dark clouds of scandalous activity on the part of the executive branch. Certainly the mood of the country should be part of the calculus when considering military intervention.
Using military action to cover up domestic and foreign failures is unthinkable. Yet that seems to be happening before our eyes.
