(JSONLINE) — A Wisconsin golf course has apologized and is considering closing for the day on Wednesday, the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, after an ad promoting a 9-11 discount drew negative media attention.
The ad was published in the Wisconsin State Journal on Monday and stated that Tumbledown Trails in Verona was offering 9 holes of golf with a cart for $9.11 or 18 holes with a cart for $19.11 on Wednesday.
The golf course has offered the discount rate since the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks as a way to remind people, particularly young golfers, about the significance of the day, general manager Marc Watts said Tuesday.

"This is the first time we've had any negative comments," Watts said. "So many people have come in and said, 'What a unique way to put that out there so people don't forget.'
