(WASHINGTON TIMES) Janet Napolitano, the president of the University of California, announced this week the college would give out $5 million for illegal immigrants to obtain special counseling and financial aid.
The New York Times reported that the announcement came as a way of calming her critics — those who thought she was going to crack down on the university’s illegal immigration population.
Ms. Napolitano used to head the Department of Homeland Security. About a month ago, she took over presidential duties at the university, which spans 10 campuses and has a small but growing immigrant population.
