Republicans and conservatives have "deficit attention disorder." They obsess about it when they are out of power and ignore it when they are in power. The 2001 George W. Bush tax cuts were the biggest contributor to our current $16.7 trillion deficit. The unjustified war in Iraq from 2003 thru 2011 was the second-biggest contributor.
How come Republicans and conservatives in Congress had no problem raising the debt ceiling seven times during the George W. Bush presidency while he was squandering hundreds of billions in Iraq chasing after Saddam Hussein's imaginary WMDs?
Dick Cheney made just one truthful statement as our vice president. Cheney made that statement in December 2002. The statement was "deficits don't matter."
