(DigitalJournal) The Muslim Brotherhood has been declared a "terrorist organization" by the Egyptian government after a powerful car bomb at a police building killed at least 14 people.
The interim government immediately suggested the Muslim Brotherhood was behind the attack. Most of those killed were police and more than 100 were wounded.
The Egyptian state new agency MENA reported that the prime minister Beblawi has declared the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. Earlier an Egyptian court had already banned the activities of the group to which ex-president Morsi belongs. The interim government often accuses the Brotherhood of funding and training militants in the Sinai Peninsula. The move by the government is taking place just as preparations are being made for a referendum on a new constitution January 14 and January 15.
