(THEDENVERCHANNEL) — WESTMINSTER, Colo. - A 16-year-old student walked into Standley Lake High School Monday morning and set himself on fire in the school cafeteria, severely burning himself, causing minor injuries to another person and prompting the evacuation and closure of the school.
Westminster Fire said one student was severely burned and transported to the hospital in critical condition. Another person who helped put the fire out suffered minor injuries.

Two school staffers were able to grab a fire extinguisher and extinguish the fire fairly quickly, said Westminster police spokeswoman Cheri Spottke. One school cafeteria worker suffered a minor abrasion when she broke the glass to grab the fire extinguisher, Spottke said.
