(POLITICO) Chelsea Clinton on Sunday issued a rallying cry to gay activists, calling equality for members of the community the “unfinished business of the 21st century.”
“My mother has often said that the issue of women is the unfinished business of the 21st century. That is certainly true. But so too are the issues of LGBT rights the unfinished business of the 21st century,” she said in remarks at a Human Rights Campaign conference, according to a video on the group’s website.
Clinton’s remarks closed the HRC’s inaugural Time to Thrive conference, which drew attention over the weekend after actress Ellen Page came out as lesbian while speaking at the event.
