With regards to the fuss in Arizona, there have been numerous articles on this website arguing, for example, that a business should not have to sell alcohol or pornography considering the owner's religious convictions. This is the ultimate red herring. The issue is if a service is provided for one, it should be provided for all. A lunch counter is not forced to serve alcohol; it is forced to serve blacks the same way it serves whites. This is as it should be.
Mixed marriages are repeatedly frowned upon in the Bible. If a baker says they we not create a wedding cake for a mixed-couple marriage, is that right? Most people in the '60s would have said it was right.
Gays are where blacks were in the '60s, being refused service. It is no excuse that gays can hide that they are gay and blacks cannot. Discrimination, often justified by the Bible, is never right in America. That is why 60 percent of Americans now support gay marriage and 38 percent oppose (ABC/Washington Post poll). It will be 70 percent within 10 years, given younger people. Even conservatives support gay marriage in a majority.
