Republicans quiz administration bias over bird deaths

(Forbes) House Republicans think the Obama Administration may be selectively enforcing wildlife laws to prosecute oil and gas companies while sparing wind-energy farms. And they’re pushing hard to get evidence.

On March 11 the House Natural Resources Committee issued a subpoena to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service for documents related to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, including the case file for every incident the department has investigated since 2009. The department missed the subpoena’s March 24 deadline.

“I think I have made superhuman efforts as have my law enforcement agents and my agency in general to respond to that subpoena,” said Dan Ash, director of the U.S. Fish & WIldlife Service, in testimony before the committee on Wednesday. “The time you gave me to respond to that subpoena is completely unreasonable. We cannot physically respond to it.”
