Rush: This is devastating truth GOP needs

Rush Limbaugh

The annual Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC, opened on Thursday, and former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton was one of the first speakers. Rush Limbaugh held up Bolton's speech as an example for Republican candidates (Free audio).

"John Bolton said, 'Under Obama you can get away with murdering his personal representative,' Ambassador Chris Stevens in Benghazi, 'and get away scot-free.' See, folks," Limbaugh said, "this is the kind of simple devastating truth that could eventually go into some of the most successful, effective political ads we could ever see."

Before the Academy Awards were handed out, Limbaugh had observed that "12 Years a Slave" would win "Best Picture" "because it had the word 'slave' in the title." This offhand remark caused quite a stir at the time, but as Limbaugh noted the morning after the Oscars, he'd been right.

According to the LA Times, a large number of Academy members now admit they'd never seen the film, but voted for it anyway because "they felt obligated to do so" (Free audio).

"Folks, the evidence is in," Limbaugh told his audience. "Don't doubt me when I explain to you what's going to happen with leftists, Democrats, why they do what they do, why they're gonna do what they're gonna do."

Michael Savage

Pointing out that many involved in the uprising are neo-Nazis, Savage warns, "The neocons don't care which side you're on, as long as they can work with you to create a political situation that they can grow into a war from which they will profit."

Back on the domestic front, Savage mocked California Sen. Barbara Boxer's bizarre claim that "the Keystone XL pipeline will cause cancer."

"In my day," Savage said, "Barbara Boxer would have run a brassiere store on the Union turnpike. But in our day, she's been a senator for 300 years. Is that what our Founding Fathers had in mind?

"How do you think Barbara Boxer gets around? Does she drive around on a rolling bagel that's powered by a rubber band? No, I assume she's in some high-powered limousine with a couple of secret service agents" (Free audio).

Aaron Klein

Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton came on the talk about the Russian incursion into the Crimea, and the Israeli Defense Minister joined Klein to discuss John Kerry's "peace talks." Mark Levin

At CPAC, Mark Levin was awarded the first ever "Andrew Breitbart Defender of the First Amendment Award," in recognition of his long career as a broadcaster, bestselling author and constitutional activist.

A reporter asked Levin if he planned to watch Chris Christie's address to the conference, which was being touted as "inclusive."

"I don't think a hell of a lot of it, quite frankly," Levin told the reporter. "As for an inclusive tone, my attitude is this: We have to unite behind our principles and eventually unite behind a candidate, or we're going to get another Northeastern liberal Republican and we're gonna lose. We're not there yet, but we will get there because the country needs us."

Laura Ingraham

"Jeff Sessions, we need Sessions for president," Laura Ingraham declared on her show this week.

"He's great," Ingraham continued. "I think someone like Sessions could probably attract Democrats, Hispanics who are here legally who are tired of these stupid trade agreements and who have had their own wages undercut by illegal immigration, African Americans, certainly I think a lot of tea-party people. Sessions is one of the few people to actually say it like it is."

Ingraham's guests this week included Tammy Bruce, who denounced the "gay Gestapo" trying to "punish religious people for being who they are" (Free audio).

Glenn Beck

Beck has high praise for the book "Disinformation: Former Spy Chief Reveals Secret Strategies for Undermining Freedom, Attacking Religion and Promoting Terrorism." Written by Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa, a top intelligence officer under communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, the book, said Beck, "will change your perspective on just about everything that you think you know in history."

Beck talked to the book's coauthor, University of Mississippi law professor Ron Rychlak, because Pacepa has been in hiding since his defection to the United States during the Carter administration.

Pacepa tried to warn Carter about the Soviets' true intentions, but instead, Carter "decided to listen to all the Soviets," Beck told his audience. "And then Ronald Reagan got into office and started listening to the good general, and that changed the course of history.

"We have another Jimmy Carter in office," Beck added.
