Teacher ‘body slams student’ over cookie

(BOSTON.COM) A Pawtucket, R.I., junior high school teacher is facing misdemeanor charges this week after allegedly assaulting a student for eating a cookie in his classroom.

Slater Junior High School teacher Richard C. Koster, 49, of Cranston, R.I., turned himself into police Thursday. He faces a simple assault charge and was later released on $1,000 personal recognizance, the Providence Journal reports.

Khrystyne Bento, who is an aunt [of the student], said the family insisted on filing a police report after they learned about the March 18 incident.
